About the NACB

The NACB was formed in 1983 to raise the standard of catering butchery in the UK.

Today, confidence in meat supplies is as important as then and assurance increasingly important to our customers. There are many food industry standards available. However, the NACB standard is the only one tailored specifically to meat and the unique operation of the catering butcher. A catering butchery operation is much more than a cutting plant and our standard reflects this.

In 2014 The NACB underwent a rigorous review of its standard to reflect changes to legislation such as The Food Information to Consumers Regulation.

The way the standard has been designed requires NACB butchers to thoroughly understand the specific requirements of their customers and to commit to deliver the very highest level of service, quality, consistency and values to their customers.
